What is the Mobile Improv Comedy Carnival? What will it be like?

The MICC is Alabama’s first and only improv-only comedy festival. Our 2027 festival will be the second year of our annual festival and will feature two nights of shows from improv comedy troupes from around Mobile, the Gulf Coast and the entire country. We’ll also be hosting improv comedy workshops during the second day for students of all improv experience levels, from people just wanting to try out improv for the first time to seasoned professionals.

The second annual Mobile Improv Comedy Carnival will take place Friday and Saturday, April 16 & 17, 2027. The shows will all take place in the back room of the Mobile Carnival Museum in downtown Mobile, Alabama. Saturday workshops will take place in various locations throughout downtown Mobile.

Tickets for our 2027 festival are not yet on sale, and ticket prices have yet to be announced. If you’d like to be the first to hear about tickets going on sale, though, including an exclusive discount, sign up for our e-mail list ! We’ll send festival-related news, updates and exclusive offers throughout the year!

Our 2027 lineup has not yet been announced, but you can look forward to both new and returning acts from our 2026 festival, and a wide sampling of some of the best improv troupes that the Gulf Coast, and indeed the entire country, have to offer.

Yes! The MICC features a range of content levels suitable for audiences from families to adults. Rest assured that shows’ content levels will be clearly marked as “General Audiences” or “Mature Audiences” on signage and in the festival program so audience members can decide which shows are appropriate for them. Please note, however, that improv is entirely unscripted, and therefore certain content specifics cannot be guaranteed.

Submissions for our 2027 festival are not yet open, but we expect them to open in the fall of 2026 and close at the end of the year. If you want a reminder when submissions open, the best way to do that is to sign up for our e-mail list.

If you’d like to help our scrappy little non-profit festival, there’s a ton of ways!
