What is the Mobile Improv Comedy Carnival? What will it be like?

The MICC is Mobile, Alabama’s first improv comedy festival. It will be two nights of improv comedy acts from around Mobile, the Gulf Coast and the entire country and one day of improv comedy workshops for everyone, from people just wanting to try out improv for the first time to seasoned professionals. We’ll be showcasing 17 performances from performers all over the country for two nights of hilarious fun!

The Mobile Improv Comedy Carnival is taking place Friday and Saturday, April 17 & 18, 2026. The shows will all take place on one stage in the back room of the Mobile Carnival Museum in downtown Mobile. The Saturday workshops are found in various locations throughout downtown Mobile, including Oyster City Brewing Company, the MAC Gallery, Mobile Opera and more.

On Friday, the doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and the festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, the doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and the festival starts at 5:30 p.m. Both nights will end at or around 11:30 p.m.

You can grab tickets from our Tickets page. Seating is limited, and we’re expecting a sell-out crowd, so grab tickets soon!

Our festival will be featuring 17 performances from acts from around Mobile, the Gulf Coast, and the entire breadth of the United States, giving audiences a unique chance to see improv acts they may never otherwise get a chance to see! To see more about all our acts, visit our Schedule page.

Yes! The MICC will feature a range of content levels, but they will be clearly marked. General Admission shows will start each night and go to (and include) the night’s headliner (roughly around 8-9pm). After the headliner, shows will be less content restricted and are recommended for Mature Audiences. The signage and program will be clearly marked so audience can decide the kinds of shows they want to see.

Please note, however, that improv is entirely unscripted, and therefore content cannot be vetted beforehand. Our “General Audience” and “Mature Audience” labels are guidelines to help inform audience decisions but should not be seen as a guarantee by the festival.

Unfortunately, submissions for our 2026 festival have already closed. Check back later this year for a chance to submit to our 2027 festival though!
